Position Summary

The Certified VPK / Preschool Teacher will lead the classroom and create enriching, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for our children. Little Kingdom Builders Academy provides a blended/hybrid curriculum structure with custom daily lesson plans. Teachers are expected to implement those plans with creativity, care, consistency, and strong classroom leadership — bringing hands-on learning, structured academics, creative arts, music, movement, and faith-based character development to life each day.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

•       Maintain a safe, clean, loving, and organized environment for exploration and learning

•       Implement the school's custom daily lesson plans and blended/hybrid curriculum structure

•       Lead engaging activities supporting early literacy, math, language development, and school readiness

•       Teach foundational skills: counting, letter recognition, letter sounds, colors, shapes, early writing, and early math

•       Incorporate creative arts, music, movement, hands-on activities,technology and play-based learning daily

•       Foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, spiritual, and academic development

•       Support a faith-based classroom culture through kindness, prayer, character development, and Christian values

•       Provide active supervision of children at all times and maintain proper classroom ratios

•       Prepare classroom reports and daily updates for each child

•       Monitor each child's progress and communicate observations to leadership and parents

•       Engage parents professionally with accurate and positive feedback about their child's experience

•       Collaborate with staff to maintain a positive learning environment

•       Follow all Department of Children and Families (DCF) policies, rules, and regulations

•       Assist with classroom transitions, meals, nap time, outdoor play, and toileting routines

•       Participate in staff training, meetings, mandatory trainings, and school events

•       Represent the school's Christian mission and values in speech, conduct, and classroom leadership

Required Qualifications

•       Must be 18 years or older

•       Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

•       Must hold an active Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with the Preschool Endorsement — REQUIRED

•       Must have completed a minimum of 45 DCF-approved training clock hours — documentation required upon hire

•       Must have a minimum of 2–3 years of preschool or VPK teaching experience

•       Must have an associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

•       Must meet all Florida DCF licensing requirements for a lead preschool/VPK teacher

•       Must demonstrate knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education

•       Must have strong classroom management and child supervision skills

•       Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and team members

•       Must be fluent in English

•       Must be Christian-minded and comfortable working in a faith-based Christian academy

•       Must be able to support the mission, vision, culture, and values of Little Kingdom Builders Academy

•       Must have a passion for childcare, early education, and serving children with excellence

Preferred Qualifications

•       VPK teaching certification or experience

•       Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC)

•       Director Credential or additional early childhood certifications

•       Bilingual in English and Spanish

•       CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain during employment

•       Experience with lesson plan implementation, parent communication, classroom documentation, or child development support

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

•       Kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds

•       Engage in physical activities with children including walking, running, dancing, jumping, and outdoor play

•       Supervise children indoors and outdoors

•       Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment

•       Respond quickly and calmly to children's needs and emergencies

•       Reliably commute to Davenport, Florida
