​The core functions of this position are to gain experience learning from social media experts, be featured across a massive distribution, learn how to produce a personal show and content, and to become a brand ambassador for The Western Journal. Skills to be developed during the internship include, but are not limited to, brand building, production of video content, and social media strategy. A video studio is available in-person for filming content if needed. We are accepting applicants for remote work from home (U.S. residents only, excluding California, Colorado, and Ohio) or at our main office located in North Phoenix in Arizona. This is a paid 40 hour/week, 12 week internship opportunity. The pay for this position is $13.85/hour. We are a 7-day a week operation and you may be required to work weekends. We are flexible with internship start dates. 

Responsibilities:

• Partners with The Western Journal to promote the publication’s brand using their social media profiles, writing skills, production skills, and video skills.
• Crafts shareable, engaging social posts on Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other platforms to promote our stories, commentary, videos, and news.
• Optimizes titles for increased engagement on social media platforms.
• Collaborates with editorial staff to select video content for publishing on the basis of relevance, value to the audience, and timing.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5K followers across all social profiles
• Exceptional social media skills
• Exceptional written communication skills
• Written and video content production skills
• Basic knowledge of video editing
• News junkie - interest in current events and reporting
• Exceptional internet research skills to investigate claims on social media
• Team player with excellent interpersonal/collaboration skills
• If pursuing a Bachelor’s degree:
• Junior or Senior standing
• 2.5 GPA or higher
