We are looking for a dynamic, tactical and gritty Director of Web Development to lead, develop and grow a talented team of developers. You will be responsible for overseeing the successful deployment of responsive and engaging sites, while optimizing site performance and usability across multiple distribution channels (web, email, social, etc.) and platforms. The role requires a some level of business acumen as well as a strong knowledge of programming best practices to ensure quality at all levels to help create an immersive and enjoyable digital experience for our clients. Strong communication skills are a must as you will be working closely with all departments within the company as well as the executive team.

Salary Range depending on experience and qualifications: 95K-200K annually

Responsibilities:

• Managing and developing team members
• Overseeing successful client integrations and product optimization
• Building processes and workflows; overseeing the creation of technical documentation
• Team performance management including hiring, coaching, and enforcing company policy or expectations
• Front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Back-end web development (WordPress, PHP, MySQL)
• Some system administration (Windows, Linux, Apache)
• Some project management

Required Experience: 

• Minimum 5+ years experience in the web development field
• Succesful track record of supervising, training and mentoring team members required; management experience a HUGE plus
• Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript
• Experience with Wordpress and GIT
• Familiarity with Linux
• A passion for producing excellent work 
• A talent for strategic problem solving and proactive solutions that foster sustainability 
• Familiarity with industry web standards and good time-management abilities, including project planning and coordination with internal project managers
• Excellent communicator: advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Adaptability and the ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines with high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Agency or Publisher experience is a plus
• Experience building processes or workflows
• Project management or coordination experience a plus
• Advanced knowledge of WordPress including theme and plugin development strongly preferred
• Ability to migrate/move a WordPress website from one server to another
• Advanced knowledge of Cloudflare 
• Experience with Web-based server administration software (NginX, Google Cloud, etc)
• Ability to extract and prepare assets from a Sketch, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop document
• Ability to convert designs from Sketch, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator into fully functioning WordPress based websites
• Experience working directly with clients and/or Executive teams
