LIVE. GROW. SHARE. is a Peer Delivered Services Organization in Lane County providing mental health, Integrated Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment, Residential Treatment, and many unique peer programs. 

 

We are 100% peer run and are looking for an Equine Manager with lived experience. 

 

We have openings for: 

 

Equine Manager: A mental health provider with either a Peer Support Specialist or Qualified Mental Health Professional certificate (or eligible for certification) who also has a background in caring for and training horses. This person will assist in program development and implementation for our Equine-Assisted Peer Support Program. This position will be approximately half direct service - providing peer support or skill building to individuals while engaging with horses, and half program management and oversight.

Start Date: Open 

 

Starting hourly rate $25 during onboarding and training. All staff begin on hourly basis with access to building a full caseload. Staff are eligible for salary and pay increase after 3 months of training and consistent full time hours. 

 

LGS is a certified Integrated Co-Occurring Disorder provider organization and holds an OHA Certificate of Approval. Therapist will be working with a team of QMHP, CADC, QMHA, and Peer Support Specialists. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

1. Peer Support Specialist or Qualified Mental Health Associate - or eligible for certification in one. 

 

2. Experience caring for and training horses, with an emphasis on therapeutic approaches. 

 

Roles and duties: 

 

1) Provide peer support and/or skill building to children, adolescents, and adults while engaging with horses. 

 

2) Work with LGS team and community partners to provide wrap around care to participants 

 

3) Assist in program development and implementation 

 

4) Learn how to use systems such as: 

 

Kipu (Electronic Health Record) 

Microsoft Outlook and Teams 

5) Complete progress notes after each session 

 

6) Manage the barn and care of two horses 

 

Organize daily care schedule 

Keep track of vet/farrier/medications 

Keep barn clean/stocked 

7) Manage clinical aspect of Equine-Assisted Peer Support 

 

Supervise peers providing services with horses 

Train peers providing services with horses 

Manage schedules with the peers/horses and when clients are scheduled 

Are you a person with lived experience in mental health or addiction, who would be willing to share some experiences with others for therapeutic purposes?

All salaried staff are eligible to receive medical and dental benefits through PacificSource Health Plans - Bronze. LGS will pay the individual base premium rate. The employee can choose a more expensive plan and pay for the difference. LGS does not offer insurance plans for families. 

 

Retirement Contributions: 

 

LGS will begin making contributions to Human Interest on behalf of the employee after one year of full time employment. Matching contributions will begin at 3% and can increase over time. 

 

Sick Days 

 

Sick time is available to all employees, including part time, and accrues in compliance with Oregon laws: one hour of sick time per 30 hours worked. Sick days are only used for when the employee is physically ill. Sick days are not available for cash out and does not roll over to the next year. 

 

Vacation 

 

Year one of employment: 5 working days (6.5 hours per working day, accrued throughout the year) 

 

Year two+ of employment: 14 working days 

 

Vacation days accrue throughout the first year and roll over to the second year. Each subsequent year provides front loaded vacation days at the beginning of the year. After the end of your second + years, vacation will not roll over and must be used within the year. Vacation days are not available for cash out. 

 

Flexible Holidays 

 

As a salaried employee, you have the flexibility to manage your schedule and working hours. Popular holiday weeks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) will come with a lower expectation of billable hours. Employees are supported in observing holidays that are important to them and should communicate their needs with supervisors. 

 

Monthly Wellness Day 

 

Each month, each staff member will get one paid day off for wellness. This day will be determined in collaboration with your supervisor. 

 

32-Hour Work Weeks 

 

Because 40 hours is too much work! LGS believes mental wellness and personal/family time is important and it’s hard to make time for that when you’re burnt out from work. 

 

Bereavement and Other Life Events 

 

LGS is a supportive work environment. We support our employees in taking a pause from work so they can take care of themselves when big things happen in life. Employees will work out an individual plan/agreement with supervisors when a situation arises. 

 

Overtime 

 

Our preferred work week is 32 hours. Employees may have flexibility between weeks but are not allowed to work over 40 hours per week. Working between 32-40 hours per week does not constitute overtime. Overtime is not allowed unless prior approval by supervisor is given under special circumstances.
