Eligibility

• Applicants from the programs listed below are strongly preferred; candidates from other similar accredited technical programs will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Front Range Community College: Precision Machining, Welding Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology
• Aims Community College: Aircraft Maintenance, Welding Technology
• Warren Tech: Machining, Aircraft Maintenance, Welding Technology
• Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology: Aviation Maintenance Technology, Aviation Electronics Technology
• Lincoln Tech: Welding Technology

Pay & Schedule

The hourly range for this apprenticeship is $18–$25 per hour, depending on academic program, skills, and prior experience. Apprenticeships are designed as short-term learning opportunities and are not typically benefits-eligible. If benefits are offered, they may include medical benefits participation, professional development stipends, and paid time off, subject to role length and company policies.

• Part-time: 3-5 hours/day, 5 days per week
• Weekends as needed for test and manufacturing operations
• Flexible start dates; schedules coordinated around academic commitments

Contract

3-6 months. This apprenticeship may be renewed or converted to a full-time role. Successful apprentices will be considered for permanent employment opportunities with LEAP.

Example Tasks

• Assist engineering with fabrication projects
• Support test operations
• Fabricate test stands and ground support equipment
• Maintain equipment per manufacturer recommendations
• Keep the Lafayette, CO shop organized and safe
• Run errands and provide logistical support as needed
• Represent LEAP Space as a professional, team-oriented apprentice

Experience

• Weld prep

Requirements

• U.S. citizen with a valid passport
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills
• Must be eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and interest in aerospace/space systems
