Job Summary:
As a facilitator of a psychoeducational, coaching or support group, your primary responsibility is to create a supportive environment where everyone can share their experiences and learn from one another. Effective leadership involves leading discussions, offering structured sessions, and providing evidence-based information.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works with an established curriculum for various groups and training as needed.
- Leads clients in group sessions to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
- Encourages clients to express their obstacles and to discuss what is happening in their lives. Helps them develop skills around these challenges.
- Fosters a supportive, structured and welcoming environment for clients.
- Prepares and maintains detailed records and reports as required for intervention type..
- Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients’ group sessions.
- Helps to provide feedback & support in updating group course materials/curriculum on an as-needed and feedback-driven basis.
- Clearly differentiates scope of coaching/support versus therapy
- Facilitates groups as scheduled.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Familiarity with the implementation of psycho-educational/coaching groups in various topics
- Familiarity with Group Dynamics and processes
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
- Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Strong oral communication skills to counsel and advise patients
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective group interactions
- Coaching skills to help clients make positive changes
- Organization skills to maintain up-to-date, easy-to-navigate patient files
- Familiarity with privacy, health and safety laws
- Computer skills to operate record keeping, scheduling, email and word processing software
Education and Experience:
- Masters degree therapist or therapist-in-traiing preferred, though non-therapists will be considered for profession-specific groups where unique experience is preferred.
