Job Summary:
The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will plan, direct, and evaluate patient & group participant mental health care in telehealth services; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic mental illnesses and other Mental Health injuries/illnesses; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and work with the medical director in the care and treatment of patients & group participants.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with new patient & group participants to orient them about services, to identify needs, and to suggest local physicians and services.
- Sees patients in the telehealth & psychoeducational group settings for examination, diagnosis, and treatment of examine and treat chronic and acute episodic mental illnesses and other Mental Health injuries/illnesses. Refers to physician as needed. Writes prescriptions and performs other duties within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available technologies. Schedules follow-up visits or makes local in-person referrals as needed.
- Acts as a resource person for decisions, planning, and policies affecting the health of patient & group participants.
- Maintains outpatient records. Records statistics and conducts research as deemed necessary by the institution. Compiles reports concerning care in different telehealth settings.
- Collaborates with staff to identify patient & group participants' needs and to help develop plan to meet these needs.
- Follows patient & group participants as needed for continuity of care.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program.
- Multi-state licensure (or willingness to apply for additional licenses) strongly preferred.
- Primary license in compact state required
- Willingness to obtain additional state licenses strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
