Accounting & Financial Operations Manager

Location: Webster, NY

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Position Overview 


Focus Practice Management is seeking an experienced Accounting & Financial Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple affiliated entities while maintaining strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and efficient workflows.


This hands-on leadership role combines accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll oversight, cash management, and process improvement. Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, the successful candidate will help ensure the accuracy of financial information, strengthen internal controls, support strategic initiatives, and contribute to the continued growth of the organization.


While the position includes limited backup support for payroll and employee-related administrative processes, its primary focus is accounting and financial operations. Key Responsibilities:



Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Oversee daily accounting operations for multiple affiliated entities
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and prepare monthly financial statements
  • Perform and review bank, balance sheet, and credit card reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable, vendor payments, and expense tracking
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support collection activities
  • Prepare management reporting packages and financial analyses
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash management initiatives
  • Coordinate annual audits and work with external accountants and advisors
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and increase efficiency



Payroll & Administrative Support

  • Review payroll reports, reconciliations, tax filings, and related journal entries
  • Serve as backup payroll processor using Gusto as needed
  • Support retirement plan administration and payroll compliance initiatives
  • Maintain familiarity with onboarding, benefits, and employee-related processes to provide operational continuity when needed


Qualifications:



Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare, legal, professional services, or practice management environments
  • Experience with Gusto payroll
  • Familiarity with trust accounting or professional services accounting
  • CPA, CMA, or similar certification
