We are looking for an associate attorney to join our team to assist with our criminal law practice. You must be licensed in either California, Utah, or both. The position will begin as remote and switch to in-office within several months. This position will be tasked with legal research, legal writing, and reviewing cases prior to filing. You must have empathy for others and a desire to assist people to reenter society after facing the criminal justice system due to their choices.

About the Position: Associate Attorney

Schedule: Monday to Friday, California time, be available during public-facing office hours.


  • Job Overview: This position is an attorney position and is targeted towards those interested in a supervisory position with high attention to detail including legal research, legal writing, and reviewing numerous criminal law filings.
  • Must be able to take assist our team as needed and provide high quality work product.
  • Location: Work remotely; will switch to in-office in Utah County (American Fork/Lehi/Pleasant Grove area) within several months.

 

The Associate Attorney will be responsible for the following:


  • Assist our law clerk team as needed.
  • Review numerous legal filings and case analyses for accuracy
  • Draft legal pleadings and motions at a high-quality level.
  • Speak with leads, clients, court clerks, and government employees on the phone and via email
  • Be confident and quick at completing your tasks.
  • Be flexible and able to assist the team with additional services as needed

Required Qualifications:


  • Be a licensed attorney living in Utah County or Salt Lake County who is licensed in either California, Utah, or both.
  • Mastery of the English and legal language, both written and spoken
  • Preferred undergraduate majors: Communications, Business, Humanities, English, Social Work, Political Science, or similar writing-focused liberal arts degree
  • Desire to help people move forward from their pasts
  • 1-5 years of experience in a fast-paced position which requires managing multiple tasks and providing polished writing products preferred. 
  • Desire to work hard every day with a no excuses attitude.
  • Healthily competitive with a desire to continually improve.

 

Required Skills:


  • Excellent client relationship management skills
  • Strong computer and internet skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with CRM and sales platforms. Ability to work quickly, using multiple tabs, screens, and platforms to incorporate notes, invoices, contracts, etc.
  • Affable disposition who enjoys team camaraderie.
  • Self-starter, ability to prioritize, stay on task, and work independently.
  • A problem solver who strives to reduce the workload on others by finishing tasks without leaving loose ends.
  • Goal-oriented and efficient, while remaining thorough and accurate.
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
