Reporting to the Director of Housing, this position performs preventative maintenance, repairs, apartment turnovers, and routine inspections while ensuring the property remains clean, secure, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.

Description

Lavender Rights Project is seeking a skilled, dependable, and service-oriented Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance and operation of Sharyn Grayson House. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, assisting with apartment turnovers, and coordinating with vendors and contractors.


The ideal candidate is hands-on, takes pride in their work, and can troubleshoot a variety of building maintenance issues while working independently and collaboratively.


What You'll Do

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs for residential units, offices, and common areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, and appliance issues.
  • Assist with apartment turnovers, including make-ready work and minor renovations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of shared community spaces.
  • Operate maintenance and janitorial equipment safely, including floor buffers, auto scrubbers, shop vacuums, drills, and related equipment.
  • Remove trash, recycling, and debris while maintaining clean exterior and interior spaces.
  • Track maintenance and cleaning supply inventory and request replenishment as needed.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors performing work on-site.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and participate in required safety training.
  • Support additional facilities and maintenance projects as assigned.


What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Two or more years of maintenance, facilities, apartment, or property maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, carpentry, and appliance repair.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues independently.
  • Experience using common maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in affordable housing, supportive housing, shelters, or nonprofit organizations.
  • OSHA or other maintenance-related certifications.
  • Experience working with diverse communities using trauma-informed and equity-centered practices.

Physical Requirements

$36.5 - $39 per hour
