OVERVIEW:


We are seeking a skilled Fabricator to join our custom fabrication shop team. The Fabricator will be responsible for transforming raw materials into high-quality, custom metal products while upholding safety, quality, and precision standards. The successful candidate will not only contribute to the financial sustainability of our organization but also play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to empower individuals to pursue careers in welding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication: Fabricate metal parts and products according to design specifications and project requirements, utilizing various welding and metalworking techniques. Perform outside fabrication work as needed by customers.¬†
  • Material Handling: Safely handle and manage raw materials, including cutting, bending, and shaping metal components.
  • Welding: Perform welding tasks using various processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) to join metal parts together, ensuring high-quality welds and structural integrity.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of finished products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards, making necessary adjustments or repairs as needed.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment at all times, promoting a culture of safety within the shop.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of fabrication tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Shop and office up keeping during downtime. Maintaining inventory records of all shop equipment and supplies.¬†
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the design team and serve as project manager to interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications, ensuring accurate execution of custom projects. Communicate with customers and attend site visits.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of materials used, work completed, and time spent on each project for billing and reporting purposes.
  • Training and Mentoring: Act as a mentor to apprentices and students, providing guidance and instruction as part of our commitment to barrier-free education.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Fabricator or similar role in a metal fabrication setting.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick.
  • Knowledge of metalworking tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative attitude.
  • Safety-conscious with knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or educational environment is a plus.
  • A dedication to the Latinas Welding Guild's mission and values.

SUPERVISION: Welding Program Director 


TRAINING & SUPPORT: On-the-job training and on-going support is done by Consuelo and the Program Director. Mentoring support is also available as needed.


TIME COMMITMENT: Up To 40 Hours | Full Time

Salary

$21 - $25 per hour
