Geneva Commons is a premier Class A lifestyle shopping center in Geneva, IL, offering a curated mix of retail, dining, and entertainment in a luxury open-air setting. The Marketing & Event Coordinator supports the planning, promotion, and execution of marketing programs and community events that enhance the center's brand, increase customer engagement, drive traffic to retailers and restaurants, and reinforce the property's position as a premier lifestyle shopping destination.


This role works closely with ownership, property management, retailers, vendors, community partners, sponsors, media contacts, and guests to deliver polished, high-quality experiences consistent with the standards of a luxury open-air retail environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute on-property events, seasonal activations, retailer promotions, grand openings, sponsorship events, community programs, and guest experiences from concept through post-event follow-up.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the center's annual marketing and events calendar, including holiday programming, family events, entertainment, charitable partnerships, and traffic-driving campaigns.
  • Manage event logistics including timelines, vendor coordination, permits, insurance requirements, supplies, decor, signage, entertainment, staffing, setup, breakdown, and day-of troubleshooting.
  • Create and distribute marketing materials such as event flyers, retailer communications, e-newsletters, social media content, website updates, press releases, signage copy, and promotional collateral.
  • Maintain and update the center's website, event listings, directory information, tenant promotions, digital displays, and social media channels to ensure content is accurate, timely, and brand appropriate.
  • Develop positive working relationships with retailers, restaurants, sponsors, vendors, media partners, tourism organizations, chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Support public relations initiatives, media outreach, influencer partnerships, guest communications, and local advertising opportunities.
  • Track event attendance, promotional results, social media engagement, retailer participation, sponsorship deliverables, guest feedback, and other key performance indicators.
  • Prepare event recaps, marketing reports, photo documentation, budget updates, and recommendations for future improvements.
  • Assist with maintaining marketing budgets, processing invoices, tracking expenses, gathering vendor estimates, and identifying cost-effective opportunities that maintain Class A presentation standards.
  • Ensure all activations reflect the center's brand standards, guest service expectations, safety requirements, and property rules.
  • Provide on-site support during events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Hospitality, Event Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in marketing, event coordination, retail marketing, hospitality, property management, tourism, public relations, or a related role preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, vendors, details, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a polished professional presence.
  • Experience creating social media content, email campaigns, promotional materials, website updates, and basic marketing reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms, social media scheduling tools, or website content management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
  • Creative, organized, resourceful, and comfortable solving problems in real time during events.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for select nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping center events.


Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Knowledge of lifestyle retail, luxury retail, restaurants, hospitality, or mixed-use property environments.
  • Understanding of place-making, community engagement, sponsorship fulfillment, and traffic-driving marketing strategies.
  • Strong eye for design, decor, guest experience, brand presentation, and event aesthetics.
  • Comfort interacting with retailers, guests, senior management, ownership representatives, and local community leaders.
  • Ability to lift and move light event materials and remain active during event setup, execution, and breakdown.


Work Environment

This position is based on-site at a Class A lifestyle shopping center and requires regular interaction with retailers, vendors, guests, and community partners. The role includes both office-based marketing tasks and active on-property event coordination.


Schedule & Compensation

This is a full-time position offering a starting salary range of $55,000-$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
