Position Summary
We are seeking a committed and client-centered Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) to provide direct substance use services in both outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) settings. This role includes group facilitation, substance use assessments, relapse prevention planning, and collaboration with the broader treatment team. The ideal candidate brings passion for recovery work, strong documentation skills, and a trauma-informed approach to care.
Key Responsibilities
Substance Use Counseling
- Facilitate evidence-based group counseling sessions for individuals struggling with substance use
- Provide individual counseling sessions focused on recovery, triggers, and life stabilization
- Conduct initial assessments and intake interviews to determine substance use severity and service needs
- Create individualized treatment and relapse prevention plans in collaboration with the client
- Lead psychoeducation groups on addiction, coping skills, and life management
Program & Client Support
- Collaborate with LPCs, LCSWs, and case managers to support wraparound services
- Monitor client participation, progress, and engagement within IOP or outpatient program
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Medicaid and agency guidelines
- Conduct drug screenings and support compliance with treatment protocols (as needed)
- Participate in clinical meetings, staffing, and ongoing training
Qualifications
- Active LCDC license in the state of Texas (LCDC-I considered with relevant experience)
- 2+ years of experience providing addiction recovery services in outpatient, residential, or IOP settings
- Experience facilitating group therapy or educational sessions
- Strong understanding of trauma, co-occurring disorders, and recovery principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with EHR documentation and Medicaid/insurance requirements
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
