The Director of Development is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and expansion of Lafayette Academy’s development activities.

The Director of Development is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and expansion of Lafayette Academy’s development activities, including:

Fundraising efforts, including but not limited to the following:

▪Annual fund, including events and sponsorships

▪Capital Campaign oversight in the future

▪Alumni outreach and engagement in the future


With support from the Founder/President, the Board of Directors and dedicated consulting support, the Director of Development ensures the annual fund goals are collectively set and reached and that a culture of philanthropy is built into the school and in the larger Lafayette school community.


Core functions

•Develop the annual fund plan, its budget, calendar and fundraising projections

•Oversee the administration of the fund development database

•Develop and implement corporate and foundation giving programs

•Grow and steward mid-level donors

•Participate in the creation of the capital campaign, its goals, budget, strategies, and donor work

•Develop and implement direct mail program

•Implement intensive stewardship program

•Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects

•Oversee planning and implementation of special events

•With contract support, lead planning of and manage volunteers associated with special events

•Prepare and deliver annual fund reports to leadership

•Work with contractor to develop materials, promotion strategies and visibility opportunities for programs, services, and events

•Oversee e-mail and donor database

•Support and direct the Board of Directors with regard to fund development activities

•Other responsibilities or duties as determined by the organization’s leadership team

ADDITIONALLY, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

•A thorough understanding and passion for Classical education and private schools

•Knowledgeable about the St. Louis philanthropic community and relevant funding areas (Schools)

•Creative and innovative approaches to fundraising that is right sized for the organization as it grows.


Annual Budgetary responsibilities: Meet mutually agreed upon annual fund goals (approved by and shared with the Board of Directors)


Qualifications

Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, English, journalism, or comparable degree


Experience:

•Minimum 3-5 years experience in fund development with a background in journalism, sales, communications, or marketing

•Experience and comfort with desktop computing skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Bloomerang, etc.

Salary

$105,000 - $115,000 per year
