Lafayette Academy Business/HR Manager Lake Saint Louis, MO · Full time

The Business Manager manages many of the non-academic functions of Lafayette Academy including financial operations (budgeting, payroll, accounting, etc.), purchasing, facilities management, HR, asset management, safety and security, reception, legal and compliance, IT, risk management, and others. This full-time, year-round position reports to the Head of School.



  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
  • Extensive experience with QuickBooks
  • Experience in Human Resources

Human Resources

·      Maintain HR management system (Gusto)

·      Manage full employment cycle (job posting, application processing, interviewing, hiring, on-boarding, off-boarding)

·      Ensure all HR records are kept confidential and stored appropriately

·      Maintain Employee Handbook

·      Process payroll

·      Implement and maintain benefits program


·      Perform all bookkeeping

·      Reconcile accounts and perform journal entries

·      Manage accounts payables and receivables

·      Reimburse employee purchases as needed and approved

·      Work with Head of School to develop and implement annual budget

·      Provide financial records to compliance group for 990 preparation

·      Coordinate annual financial audit

·      Ensure all financial records are kept confidential and stored appropriately

·      Provide cash flow analysis for the Head of School and Board

·      Provide requested documents for monthly board meetings

·      Attend board meetings as recording secretary for meeting minutes and posts minutes to Board’s One Drive promptly


·      Manage operations manual

·      Manage purchasing including all vendor relationships

·      Maintains office inventories including supplies, equipment, and materials

·      Track and manage all assets

·      Oversee legal and compliance issues

·      Oversee facilities management including landlord relationship and repairs

·      Coordinate school safety and security (fire, storm, lock down procedures)

·      Coordinate IT and other technology

·      Risk Management including all insurance policies

·      Manage school receptionist
