Overview
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the accurate, timely, and efficient processing of customer orders and outgoing shipments for Kuumba Made's natural body care and aromatherapy products. This position prepares orders for shipment, verifies product accuracy, coordinates with carriers, maintains shipping records, and ensures products are packaged according to Company quality standards. The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional customer experience by ensuring orders are shipped accurately, safely, and on time.
Essential Functions
- Picks, verifies, packages, and prepares customer orders for shipment in accordance with established quality and accuracy standards.
- Operates shipping software and warehouse management systems to generate shipping labels, packing slips, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
- Verifies product quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, and packaging requirements before shipment.
- Coordinates shipments through carriers and freight providers.
- Ensures shipments comply with customer specifications, hazardous material requirements (when applicable), and carrier regulations.
- Maintains accurate shipping records and tracking information.
- Communicates shipment status, delays, shortages, and shipping discrepancies to Customer Service, Sales, and Operations.
- Assists in inventory control by reporting damaged products, inventory discrepancies, and stock shortages.
- Receives and stages finished goods for shipment while maintaining product integrity.
- Inspects shipping materials and packaging supplies; notify supervisor when replenishment is needed.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assists with other warehouse, fulfillment, receiving, or production support activities, when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- One (1) year of experience in shipping, warehousing, or logistical operations.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in the successful performance of the job. Additional education may substitute for required experience on one-for-one year basis or vice versa.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory control procedures.
- Ability to accurately pick, pack, and verify customer orders.
- Knowledge of common shipping carriers and shipping documentation.
- Ability to operate barcode scanners and computerized shipping systems.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Cloud Based programs.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet daily shipping deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and internal customers.
- Ability to identify and resolve shipping discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment
- Frequently stand and walk throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift greater weights with assistance.

- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work in warehouse temperatures and environments.
Schedule: Full-time, Mon-Fri; 8a-5p

Pay Range: $16.50-18.50/hr
