The Chief Center Assistant serves as the lead classroom assistant and trusted partner to the Center Director. This position helps oversee daily classroom operations, mentors Center Assistants, supports individualized instruction, and helps ensure every student and family receives an exceptional Kumon experience. The Chief Center Assistant leads by example, promotes teamwork, and helps maintain the high standards of instruction and customer service our families expect.

Description

Responsibilities

Classroom Leadership

  • Help oversee daily classroom operations
  • Maintain smooth classroom flow and student engagement
  • Support and coach Center Assistants during class
  • Help prioritize grading, instruction, and classroom responsibilities
  • Ensure classroom procedures are followed consistently

Student Instruction

  • Provide individualized support based on each student's needs
  • Encourage students to become confident, independent learners
  • Guide students using the Kumon Method without giving answers
  • Observe student progress and communicate important observations to the Center Director
  • Support multiple students while maintaining instructional quality

Staff Leadership

  • Train and mentor new Center Assistants
  • Monitor grading accuracy and instructional quality
  • Answer staff questions and provide coaching
  • Promote teamwork and positive communication
  • Help create a supportive, growth-focused work environment

Parent & Center Support

  • Build positive relationships with students and families
  • Respond to routine parent questions and know when to involve the Center Director
  • Help prepare student materials and classroom supplies
  • Assist with enrollment support and administrative tasks
  • Identify opportunities to improve classroom efficiency and operations

Technology

  • Use Kumon Connect, iPads, and center technology daily
  • Support students and staff using Kumon Connect
  • Help troubleshoot basic technology issues
  • Ensure devices are organized, charged, and ready for class


Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working with children
  • Demonstrates leadership and professionalism
  • Has strong Math and/or Reading skills
  • Is dependable with excellent attendance
  • Has strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Enjoys coaching and helping others succeed
  • Is adaptable and able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Is comfortable using technology, including Kumon Connect and iPad systems
  • Believes in continuous learning and improvement

Previous Kumon experience, including former/current Kumon students and educators, is strongly preferred.

Schedule

Part-time afternoon and evening hours. Additional preparation or training time may occasionally be required.

Salary

$16 - $20 per hour
