THE MISSION

The Theater Campaign Planner (Journeyman) supports theater and contingency planning for PACOM J5 and directly contributes to the Joint Taiwan Task Force. You'll translate strategic guidance into actionable planning products — synchronization matrices, campaign support plans, briefing packages, and more. Working alongside senior planners and government leads, you'll apply the Joint Planning Process to real-world priorities within one of the world's most strategically important commands.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support the development, revision, and staffing of theater and contingency campaign planning products for the Joint Taiwan Task Force within PACOM J5.

• Translate strategic and theater guidance into practical planning inputs, including objectives, supporting activities, milestones, decision points, and assessment considerations.

• Coordinate with PACOM staff, service components, functional elements, and mission partners to gather inputs, track actions, and synchronize planning efforts.

• Draft, update, and maintain planning products such as campaign support plans, synchronization matrices, briefing materials, executive summaries, and staff packages

• Apply the Joint Planning Process and related workflows to assigned tasks, including mission analysis support, course-of-action development, and plan refinement

• Conduct research and analysis to inform planning assumptions, planning factors, decision points, and operational considerations

• Support integration of conventional, SOF, interagency, allied, and partner considerations into planning efforts as directed

• Prepare materials for working groups, planning teams, senior leader updates, and coordination meetings

• Track suspense items, reconcile stakeholder comments, and ensure planning documentation is current, accurate, and properly staffed

• Identify planning issues, gaps, or coordination challenges and elevate them to senior planners with recommended options

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree required
• 5 to 8 years of relevant military, joint, interagency, or defense planning experience
• 2 to 4 years of experience supporting planning in a joint, combined, combatant command, component command, or task force environment
• Experience contributing to campaign planning, contingency planning, operational planning, or related staff planning efforts
• Familiarity with the Joint Planning Process, operational design concepts, and standard staff planning workflows
• Demonstrated ability to draft planning products that support staffing, briefing, exercises, or operational decision-making
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear staff work for review by senior personnel
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while operating within established guidance and review processes
• Experience coordinating inputs across multiple stakeholders and maintaining planning artifacts under deadlines
• Recent Pacific, joint, or operational headquarters experience preferred
• Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to satisfy mission access requirements immediately upon assignment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Strategic Studies, Defense Analysis, Security Studies, Public Policy, or Operations Research
• Intermediate-level military planning education or JPME
• Experience supporting PACOM, a subordinate component, service component headquarters, TSOC, joint task force, or similar operational headquarters
• Familiarity with synchronization matrices, campaign assessments, briefing development, and staff action processes
• Experience supporting exercises, crisis-action planning, or contingency planning in a joint or combined environment
• Exposure to allied, partner, interagency, or SOF integration in planning efforts
