Paid Robotics Intern at our Dallas HQ (Nov 15, 2026 – June 30, 2027). 40 hrs/week. Build Vision AI perception, sensor fusion, ROS/ROS2, and industrial 3D-printed tooling for logistics automation.
KoiReader Technologies is a pioneer and global leader in Al-powered Logistics, Supply Chain, and Industrial Automation and Generative AI solutions, and recognized in the industry for its KoiVision Platform and Al Operating Model. Through our proprietary Visual Cognitive Engine, we provide real-time process, cargo, inventory, and asset visibility to logistics and supply chain organizations.
Location: Dallas, TX (on-site at HQ)
Experience: 2-6 Months (Previous Internship or Projects)
Duration: November 15, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Compensation: $17.50/hr
Commitment: Minimum 40 hours per week
We are looking for a passionate and hands-on Robotics Engineering Intern to join our team at our Dallas, TX headquarters. In this role, you will work at the intersection of computer vision, physical automation, and edge computing to design, build, and deploy robotic perception and automated inspection systems for yard and gate operations.
You will collaborate closely with AI researchers, embedded systems engineers, and operations teams to translate vision algorithms into reliable physical inspection and robotic perception pipelines used in live logistics environments.
Key Responsibilities
Sensor Calibration & Fusion: Assist in the setup, calibration, and spatial synchronization of multimodal sensors (monocular/stereo cameras, 3D LiDAR, time-of-flight sensors, and depth cameras).
Robotics Software Development: Develop and test modular nodes using ROS / ROS2 for perception, tracking, telemetry, and edge execution.
Simulation & Testing: Build and maintain simulated testbeds using tools like Gazebo or NVIDIA Isaac Sim to evaluate robotic inspection routines before deployment.
Edge Deployment: Benchmark and optimize models on embedded hardware (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, industrial edge PCs).
Hardware Integration & Prototyping: Assist in mounting, wiring, testing, and debugging hardware rigs and test fixtures for real-world automated gate, yard, and inspection systems.
Data Collection & Benchmarking: Conduct controlled experiments, gather field datasets, and quantify system latency, precision, and repeatability.
Skills & Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Solid proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
Practical experience with ROS or ROS2 (nodes, actions, topics, tf transforms).
Working knowledge of cameras and sensors (RGB, stereo/depth, ToF, LiDAR) and core computer vision or point cloud libraries (e.g., OpenCV, PCL, Open3D)—including setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with physical hardware (sensors, cameras, edge processors, or robotic arms/AMRs), plus the ability to independently design and 3D-print industrial-grade components (e.g., sensor mounts, fixtures, robotic-arm tooling) using CAD and production-minded materials/tolerances.
Must be located in or willing to relocate/commute to the Dallas, TX area for the duration of the internship.
Brownie Points
Prior exposure to deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime) for object detection, segmentation, or pose estimation.
Familiarity with simulation environments (NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, Webots).
Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, CAN, or MQTT).
Deeper CAD fluency (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and experience shipping durable 3D-printed fixtures for field or production use.
Exposure to containerization tools like Docker for edge deployment.
What We Offer
Real Impact: Work on live Vision AI projects solving real-world problems in logistics, yard, and supply chain operations.
Mentorship: Learn directly from experienced AI architects and gain exposure to enterprise-grade deployments.
PPO Potential: High performers will have the potential to convert this internship into a full-time role.
The Playground: Hands-on experience with NVIDIA hardware and edge AI deployment in production-like settings.
Meritocracy: A candid startup culture where the best ideas win, regardless of experience level.
