We are seeking responsible, dependable, and safety-conscious Drivers to transport students to and from program activities, field trips, and other scheduled outings. Drivers are responsible for providing safe and timely transportation while helping create a positive and welcoming environment for students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent judgment, reliability, patience, and professionalism and will prioritize the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students to and from designated locations, activities, field trips, and outings.
  • Follow assigned routes, schedules, and transportation procedures.
  • Ensure students enter and exit the vehicle safely and are released only at approved locations.
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior and a safe environment while students are in the vehicle.
  • Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks.
  • Immediately report vehicle concerns, accidents, incidents, delays, or safety issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general order of assigned vehicles.
  • Follow all traffic laws and KCS transportation and student safety policies.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, staff, and program leadership.
  • Assist with other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus, but not required.
  • Must meet KCS and applicable insurance requirements for operating program vehicles.
  • Ability to safely operate the type of vehicle assigned for student transportation.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks and screenings.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location.
  • Ability to work scheduled program hours and occasional field trips or special events.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to student safety.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience transporting children or youth is preferred.
  • Experience working in a school, afterschool, summer camp, childcare, or youth development setting is a plus.

Salary

$15 - $17 per hour
