KOHAI Accounting Manager Remote · Full time

KOHAI is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our global team. This role will have visibility across the entire KOHAI organization and as the full-charge bookkeeper, work closely with company ownership. This position is a contract to full-time opportunity, priority to applicants based in the Greater Seattle Area.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing financial operations, taking charge of maintaining precise financial records across various platforms. This role involves managing confidential information, accounts receivable, payable, and bank reconciliations while ensuring strict compliance with financial regulations. With a meticulous focus on detail, analytics, and proactive financial management, the Accounting Manager collaborates closely with the leadership team and external partners.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary bookkeeper for KOHAI and its affiliated businesses.
  • Managing the company divisions’ day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and reporting needs using company accounting software.
  • Invoicing clients in multiple countries and currencies, tracking receivables, working with clients to secure payments, and resolving any problems.
  • Handing inter-company billings and accounting entries.
  • Recording and paying expenses and vendors, ensuring receipts and documentation are kept, tracking payables, processing W9s and 1099s, and resolving any problems.
  • Tracking multiple bank accounts, deposits, balances, and ensuring cash flow in bank accounts are maintained.
  • Reconciling company’s multiple bank accounts on a timely basis.
  • Working with the company's legal and accounting firm to process monthly, quarterly, and yearly business or corporate tax filings.
  • Clean up past/uncategorized/unreconciled transactions.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial and corporate filings.
  • Prepare reports and documents for company ownership.
  • Develop and update training documents for staff regarding financial policies and procedures.
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/reporting system.
  • Ensure adherence to the contract billing and collection schedule.
  • Develop the finance department’s policy and procedure manual.
  • Actively participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other relevant meetings and seminars as needed.
  • Exhibit dedication in performing assigned duties, fostering a spirit of teamwork within the division and the broader organization.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor and company leadership.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in bookkeeping principles and practices, with a strong understanding of accounting processes and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to maintain accurate financial records and identify discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data, analyze trends, and provide meaningful insights to the leadership team.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with the leadership team and external partners, conveying critical financial information clearly.
  • Efficient time management skills to meet deadlines for payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Quickbooks, Xero, and related tools.
  • Ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies and implement solutions to streamline financial processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required. Certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Bookkeeper are a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a similar financial role.
  • Proven experience in overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Previous involvement in budgeting and planning processes, contributing to the development and monitoring of financial plans.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and regulations, policies and procedures that apply to accounting.
  • Understanding USA, Washington State, and California State tax obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to cater to business imperatives and meet the dynamic needs of the music media industry.
