About Knife and Faulk

Knife & Faulk is a DFW catering and food-led experience studio founded by Chef Marlene Faulkner. From intimate weddings to corporate events and large-scale productions, we treat food, presentation, service, and timing as one experience, and we hold every detail to a high standard.

Description

The role

The Event Captain leads the floor. You brief the team, run service to the timeline, keep the kitchen and the floor in step, and solve problems before guests ever notice them. You are the on-site point of contact for the client and the venue, and you make sure every event meets the Knife & Faulk standard from setup to the last glass.

What you'll do

  • Review the event order (BEO) and timeline ahead of the event, and confirm details with the Event Producer.
  • Lead the pre-event briefing: menu, allergies, timeline, sections and roles.
  • Direct servers and bartenders through setup, service and breakdown, adjusting staffing on the floor as the night moves.
  • Coordinate with the chef on course timing and with the client and venue on any changes, with calm and discretion.
  • Hold the line on presentation, cleanliness, allergy procedure and guest experience.
  • Lead breakdown and load-out, and report how the event went, including any issues or follow-ups, to the Event Producer.

What you bring

  • Experience leading a floor or team as a captain, lead server or banquet lead.
  • Calm, clear leadership in a full room, and the judgment to know when to escalate.
  • 18 or older, with reliable transportation to events across Dallas and Fort Worth.
  • TABC and Texas Food Handler certification preferred.
  • Black attire and black non-slip shoes.
  • Able to stand and move for shifts of 6 or more hours and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable with scheduling and event apps. Experience with Nowsta or Total Party Planner is a plus.

Schedule

Event-driven shifts, mostly evenings, Fridays and Saturdays, with some daytime and weekday events. Captains typically arrive before the service team and leave after breakdown. Our busiest season runs November 20 through January 3. You choose the dates you are available.
