Position Summary

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. Teachers foster each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while building positive relationships with families and working collaboratively with fellow staff members.


Primary Responsibilities

Classroom & Child Development

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and safe classroom environment.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons and hands-on learning activities.
  • Encourage children's growth through play-based learning and exploration.
  • Promote positive behavior using developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.
  • Support children's social, emotional, language, and physical development.

Health & Safety

  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Follow all Mississippi childcare licensing regulations and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom.
  • Assist children with meals, toileting, handwashing, nap time, and daily routines.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and accidents.

Family Communication

  • Build positive relationships with children and families.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's day and developmental progress.
  • Complete daily reports and classroom documentation as required.

Teamwork

  • Collaborate with teachers and administration to provide high-quality care.
  • Attend staff meetings and required professional development.
  • Assist in other classrooms when needed.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude while representing Kiddie Corral Preschool.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Must meet Mississippi childcare licensing requirements.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or Early Childhood Education coursework.
  • Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Experience with classroom management and positive behavior guidance.
