Khanna Law is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as an Associate in Midlothian, VA. As a full-time member of our firm, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transactional legal matters. This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days a week at our home office in Midlothian.

Job Overview:

You will be the first full-time lawyer hire for the firm and work directly with clients and the Principal Attorney, Harry Khanna. The firm's work is entirely transactional: tech startups, venture capital, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, emerging companies, non profits. There is some amount of work adjacent to the Democratic Party, so you should be comfortable with that. You will not be expected to go to court.

Harry will train you and invest in your growth as an attorney, and you should be motivated and excited to learn. The hours aren't long: you can expect to initially bill about 1000 hours per year. But the hours can be irregular as client needs are often urgent, so you should be comfortable with a high level of responsiveness and fast turnaround times.

The firm is growing, and how fast it grows depends in how much we are able to handle together. As the firm grows, your responsibility and compensation will grow.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues

- Draft legal documents, including contracts

- Manage complex legal projects such as a venture financing or merger

- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel

- Stay up-to-date on changes in the law and legal trends

- Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal matters

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

- Admitted to practice law in the United States with a preference for the Commonwealth of Virginia (or awaiting results of the bar exam)

- 0-3 years of experience practicing law, preferably in a law firm setting

- It doesn't matter if your legal experience is in litigation or real estate or anything else, but you should have a strong desire to have a corporate/transactional legal practice

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Commitment to providing high-quality legal services to clients

- Willingness to meticulously track time spent on client matters

Compensation:

- Salary range: $85,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience

- Annual bonus: Based on hours billed, your performance, and the overall performance of the firm

- Benefits include medical, dental, vision. 401(k) plan will start in 2026 with 4% match.
