We are seeking to hire a highly motivated Medical Assistant. As an Allergy Medical Assistant you will perform a wide variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. The ideal candidate must have a commitment to service and quality, and be able to multitask.

As a startup, we expect to begin with a 4-days a week work schedule. This will likely turn into a 5-day schedule in 6 months. We are excited that you will have a chance to grow with us and benefit personally and professionally.

Job Duties:

- Escorts patients to exam rooms or treatment rooms, or other areas as directed.

- Performs patient intake: takes vitals, interviews patients to verifies medication, allergies, and pharmacy, obtains screening questionnaires after completion, prepares patients for examination as appropriate for appointment type. Enters all intake data promptly into patient chart note / EHR.

- Confirms appropriate patient consent and authorization forms are signed

- Administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

- Monitor and report changes in patient symptoms or behavior

- Communication with providers regarding patient care

- Become comfortable with allergic responses and prescribed protocol (emergency drugs, asthma drugs, etc.) - will be reviewed and trained with physician on monthly basis

- Performing skin prick testing

- Performing pulmonary function tests

- Mixing allergen extract for allergy shot prescriptions - after competency proven

- Preparing oral immunotherapy treatments and help with dosing

- May perform a variety of administrative/clerical duties, scheduling patient appointments, pre-certifying procedures, getting visit prior-authorization and referrals, check in and checkout of patients, answering patient phones by collecting data to forward to the physician for triage

- Inspect equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning.

- Maintain adequate stock of supplies as required for the work area.

- Work closely under supervision with a physician

- Seek guidance and instruction as needed, demonstrate willingness to learn and continue to grow, show initiative, work independently and complete all required tasks, and perform other duties as assigned.

- Assist in social media and marketing projects

- Close the office each day and maintain bathroom cleanliness, according to protocol.

- Maintain electronic medical records, and other computer software as it relates to job functions.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain soon after hire (company will pay)

- Certified Medical Assistant from an approved training program

3+ years of experience in the patient care setting in hospital or medical clinic

- Attention to detail and interpersonal and computer skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Organizational and planning skills

- Experienced computer skills

- Medical terminology experience

Job Type: Full-Time position

Salary: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Mon to Thurs (FRI TBD)
