Construction Helper
This is a physically demanding position that requires work at heights. It often involves long hours, including weekends and holidays. Employees will work in extreme heat, cold, rain, and dirty environments. The job entails repetitive tasks that require heavy lifting, sometimes exceeding one hundred pounds.
Some specific duties for this position include:
- **Preparing construction sites:** Cleaning and removing debris, digging trenches, and compacting earth.
- **Loading and unloading materials:** Transporting equipment, tools, and materials to the work site.
- **Building and dismantling structures:** Constructing or taking apart bracing scaffolding and temporary structures.
- **Operating tools:** Using power and hand tools, such as jackhammers, saws, and drills.
- **Assisting tradespeople:** Helping carpenters, roofers, and other construction workers.
- **Collaborating with project managers:** Working with project managers and site supervisors to understand daily responsibilities.
- **Demolishing structures:** Taking down existing structures.
- **Assembling and installing products:** Putting together and installing products and components.
Construction helpers typically need the following skills and physical abilities:
- **Color vision:** The ability to distinguish colors, such as different colors of roofing materials, siding, and paint.
- **Math skills:** The ability to perform basic math calculations, such as measuring on job sites.
