Kenai Backcountry Adventures (KBA) is Alaska’s premier adventure company, specializing in unforgettable wilderness experiences. We are seeking skilled and passionate River Rafting Guides to join our team and lead thrilling whitewater rafting expeditions on Alaska’s glacial, braided rivers.


The Role: River Rafting Guide

As a River Rafting Guide, your primary focus will be operating and leading our river rafting day trip programs. You’ll be responsible for ensuring guests have a safe, exciting, and immersive experience navigating Alaska’s dynamic river environments. This position is ideal for someone with extensive whitewater guiding experience, leadership skills, and a passion for adventure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide & Lead: Lead guests on Class II-III whitewater rafting adventures, providing expert instruction and ensuring safety at all times.
  • Boat Operation: Primarily operate paddle rafts, but experience with oar rafts is acceptable.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Conduct pre-trip safety briefings, assess river conditions, and make real-time navigation decisions.
  • Gear & Equipment: Maintain, clean, and prepare rafting equipment, ensuring top-tier condition for every trip.
  • Guest Experience: Deliver engaging, educational, and exciting river trips while fostering an inclusive and fun environment.
  • Team Leadership: Work alongside fellow guides and support staff to ensure seamless trip operations.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Whitewater Expertise: Minimum 3-5 years of experience guiding Class III-IV rivers, preferably on glacial, braided rivers.
  • Certifications:
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
  • Current Swiftwater Rescue Certification
  • Physical & Mental Fitness: Ability to endure long days on the water, handle challenging weather conditions, and lift/move heavy gear.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills, excellent guest interaction, and a safety-first mindset.
  • Clean Record: Must have a clean driving record and no felonies.

$150 - $450 per day
