The Role: Lead Backcountry Guide

As a Lead Guide with a specialization in Backcountry adventures, you will be the orchestrator of unforgettable experiences. From day trips to multi-day expeditions, you'll be the driving force behind our diverse programs, operating in the Kenai Mountains, Chugach Mountains, Aleutian Range, and the Alaska Range.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Trip Mastery: Plan, prepare, and lead excursions, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our clients in Alaska's breathtaking landscapes.
  • Gear Guru: Manage and maintain an impeccable inventory of equipment, from meticulous cleaning to strategic allocation.
  • Culinary Explorer: Craft meal plans that fuel our journeys, showcasing your culinary prowess in food preparation and packaging.
  • Transportation Maestro: Navigate Alaskan terrains, shuttling clients safely and coordinating the logistics of well-maintained vehicles.
  • Logistical Virtuoso: Be the backbone of our operations, supporting with driving, errands, gear maintenance, and facilities upkeep.

Lead Backcountry Guide Requirements:

  1. Seasonal Commitment: Available May through September.
  2. Year-Round Commitment: Available full-time, year-round position.
  3. Experience: Minimum 3-5 years as a guide, with a focus on Backcountry guiding.
  4. Certifications: Current Wilderness First Responder.
  5. Physical and Mental Fitness:
  • Ability to carry 70-100+ lb backpacks in remote environments.
  • Lead hikes of 10+ miles per day with a heavy pack.
  1. Clean Record: Clean driving record and no felonies.
