The ideal candidate must have experience working in the coffee shop / restaurant setting, enjoys making drinks and food and takes pride in their work.
The shift lead will have the responsibilities of a Barista/line crew as follows:
- prepare and/or direct the preparation of food to be served complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. Ensures appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.
- Greet customers as they enter and promote positive relations with guests
- Maintain coffee bar and service /display area in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner; returning ingredients to storage after use to ensure freshness
- Maintain personal health and sanitation standards (washing hands when using restroom, etc)
- Introduce customers to the menu and answer their questions
- Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios etc)
- Prepare beverages following recipes
- Serve beverages and prepared food, like breakfast items, pastries, muffins etc
- Receive and process payments
- Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Comply with health and safety regulations
The Shift Lead role will include the following:
- Uphold and foster a positive attitude and demeanor with co-workers and customers, playing a role model by using encouraging language among peers
- Help in developing a training curriculum and training new staff on all standard procedures and rules
- following the rules and enforcing them and be a protagonist for the cafe success
- Be responsible for the smooth operations and stock/inventory availability and communication with the rest of staff
- Keep inventory of items/ingredients to be ordered and service items to be made/prepared and assign them appropriately
- Be an intermediary with management and play a responsible role handling customer concerns
- Be alert at all times of the dining room needs from bussing and cleaning tables to tending to the customers needs
- Checking on customers and communicating feedback to management
- Encourage good reviews from customers who compliment food and service and address concerns when they arise
- Perform other duties as assigned
