Kay Plumbing Heating & Cooling is a family-owned residential plumbing company serving the South Carolina Midlands since 2008. We are seeking a Plumbing Service Apprentice with real hands-on field experience who is ready to grow into a long-term career in the trades.

This is not a classroom-only or entry-level-with-no-experience position.

What You’ll Do

• Assist licensed plumbers on residential service and installation jobs
• Perform hands-on tasks including fixture installation, cutting pipe, running water and drain lines, measuring, digging, and job-site support
• Learn real-world troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair techniques
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Provide professional, customer-friendly service while representing the company

Training & Career Growth

• Hands-on field training under experienced plumbers

Required Experience (Hands-On Required)

Applicants must have at least one of the following:

• Experience assisting a plumber or tradesperson on active job sites
• Experience with basic plumbing tasks (fixture installs, pipe cutting, running lines)
• Construction, HVAC, or maintenance experience involving tools and physical labor
• Prior work as a helper, assistant, or laborer in a trade
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort using tools

School-only or online-only training without field experience does not qualify.

Additional Requirements

• Must be 21+ with a valid driver’s license
• Clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in crawl spaces and attics
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Drug screen and background check required

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts
• Some on-call or weekend availability as needed
• Full-time, in-person position
