JOB TITLE

Energy Engineer (Junior or Mid-level) – must be a New Jersey resident.

 

I. JOB DESCRIPTION

Looking for solution-driven, problem solvers, with experience in clean energy programs, to support a major utility provider in the New Jersey area; as an Energy Engineer.

 

II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support and guidance on energy-efficient technologies and practices to customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and trade allies participating in utility-sponsored programs; communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of technical specifications and engineering calculations for commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects.
  • Validate energy savings calculations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with program requirements and applicable technical reference manuals.
  • Monitor assigned project pipeline and ensure timely progression of projects; maintain accurate and up-to-date records by promptly logging all review activities and updates in the CRM system.
  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and customers.
  • Maintain regular communication with participating service providers and consultants to understand needs and gather program feedback
  • Support and, as needed, conduct program trainings for prospective participants.
  • Assist in evaluating building plans, specifications, and whole-building efficiency strategies, and contribute to recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare project status reports to track activities and support monitoring of progress toward program goals.
  • Coordinate with and support program Quality Assurance activities, including inspections and customer surveys.
  • Will travel within Client’s territory and must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Responsible for maintenance and fees of the transportation vehicle.

IV. PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, technologies, and commercial building systems
  • Exposure to or experience with energy efficiency calculations or modeling platforms
  • Understanding of ASHRAE 90.1 standards
  • Knowledge of building science principles and sustainable building practices
  • Internship or project experience in commercial construction, utilities, or energy programs
  • Progress toward or interest in certifications such as LEED or CEM


V. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION MINIMUMS

  • New Jersey State resident (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Energy, Building Science, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience in energy efficiency, building systems, utility sector, or a related field (Junior 0-3 years of experience and Mid-level 4+ years of experience)

VII. WORK LOCATION

Candidate’s work site is 317 George Street, Suite 520, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. There will be a blend of onsite and remote work. Candidate will be required to travel in our client’s New Jersey territory as required.  Candidate will be required to attend meetings onsite at the TRC NJ office located at 317 George Street, Suite 520, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. 

 

NOTE: Candidate must be New Jersey Resident and reside in New Jersey. 

 

Site visits will require physical activity for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, standing, walking with occasional, climbing, kneeling, and related field work as required. Field work may require exposure to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This may or may not include extreme temperatures. Follow safety and health policies for site visits. 

 

 

VIII. WORK SCHEDULE

a.      Energy Engineer will work 40 hours a week.  

b.      Any hours over 40 hours a week must be preapproved in writing from direct Supervisor/Manager.
