About the UCS Firearm Youth Intervention Program

This program is a dedicated intervention pipeline specifically designed for court-involved youth referred by the Unified Court System (UCS) Youth Part judges, Resource Coordinators, and probation officers. Grounded in a trauma-informed, public health framework, the program provides comprehensive alternatives to gun violence by delivering intensive mentoring, therapeutic services, case management, and resource navigation to high-risk young people in Brooklyn.


Job Description:

The Program Manager will provide day-to-day administrative, operational, and clinical-collaborative oversight for KAVI’s UCS Firearm Youth Intervention multidisciplinary team. This role serves as the central point of contact for judicial and court-based stakeholders, ensuring seamless program compliance, rigorous communication, and effective service delivery.

  • Serve as the primary, single point of contact for Kings County Youth Part judges, Resource Coordinators, and probation officers.
  • Confirm each participant’s personalized service plan with court staff and establish direct communication channels for real-time tracking.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive monthly written progress summaries regarding participant attendance, milestone achievements, and goals.
  • Actively coordinate and participate in bi-weekly multidisciplinary case conferences with court personnel, probation officers, and partner agencies.
  • Crisis Management & referral pipeline management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Co-Executive Directors

Qualifications & Competencies 

  • College degree, graduate degree preferred in related fields of criminal justice or youth development
  • Experience working with program management in a non-profit, criminal justice, or youth development setting
  • Experience directly supervising multidisciplinary teams
  • Prior experience collaborating with courts, probation departments, or legal systems in New York City is preferred
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in database management software and Microsoft Suite, Google Suite & Zoom.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain collaborative relationships with external judicial partners.
  • Able to engage and work with individuals and organizations of diverse backgrounds
  • Empathetic communication skills and behaviors
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Solution-oriented, able to think creatively to address challenges and obstacles  
  • Excellent time management skills, prioritizing, coordinating, and organizing multiple activities. 
  • Flexibility and willingness to adjust and respond to changing situations.  
  • Interest in social and restorative justice, passion for serving communities
  • Connections to education, workforce development and youth development organizations and opportunities is a plus

 

Compensation: This position is a range budgeted for an annual salary of $68,000-$72,000. Health Benefits and 403B are available.
