KC Scholars (dba Great Jobs KC) (www.greatjobskc.org) is a 501(c)(3) college scholarship and tuition-free job training program. Its goal is to support persistence and increase the college completion rate for low- and modest-income students across the six-county, bi-state service region and secure family-sustaining careers. The organization was designed to change thousands of individual lives and transform the region by preparing the local future workforce and contributing to the regional economy. The KC Scholars Scholarship Program awards traditional college scholarships to high school juniors, adult learner scholarships to adults 18 years and older, and college savings match awards to high school freshmen. The Great Jobs KC program provides tuition assistance to approved career training programs in high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, logistics/warehousing, manufacturing and service careers. With the support of Great Jobs KC, adults 17+ and older can learn the skills needed in one year or less to secure a job with family-sustaining wages. Great Jobs KC supports all its Scholars throughout their college or job training and into their first year of employment.  

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Reports to:                  Sr. Director, Talent

Location:                     Kansas City, MO, Hybrid

Status:                         Exempt, Full-time

Salary:                          Annual salary based on experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

This Sr. Human Resources Generalist position will report to the Sr. Director, Talent and will play a key role at Great Jobs KC. This role will be responsible for performing HR-related functions on a professional level and requires a deep understanding of Human Resources principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle a wide range of HR responsibilities.

 

 

Primary responsibilities include:


  • Proactively identify, engage, and attract top-tier talent through various channels including job boards, networking events, and partnering with marketing on social media.
  • Collaborate closely with hiring managers to gain a deep understanding of their talent needs and work together to develop tailored recruiting strategies that align with the organization’s objectives.
  • Implement cutting-edge recruitment approaches to ensure a diverse and dynamic candidate pipeline.
  • Actively drive diversity and inclusion throughout the recruitment process, advocating for diversity in candidate pools.
  • Oversee the onboarding process to include creating an onboarding plan, scheduling and providing new hire orientation, and scheduling all new hire training with each department.
  • Participates in employee engagement initiatives to enhance the employee experience
  • Make recommendations for new procedures to continually improve the efficiency of the HR team and to improve the employee experience.
  • Assist in the implementation of HRIS and metrics to measure effectiveness of service, programs, and processes.  
  • Assist with the development and continuous updates of analytics dashboards that visualize data and provide analysis that is interpretable by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. 
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

 

Work Experience:


  • At least five years of human resources generalist experience required.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing HR best practices and procedures related to employment law, full cycle recruitment, and guidelines pertaining to employment, wage and hour, and employee relations.
