KC Scholars (dba Great Jobs KC) (www.greatjobskc.org) is a 501(c)(3) college scholarship and tuition-free job training program. Its goal is to support persistence and increase the college completion rate for low- and modest-income students across the six-county, bi-state service region and secure family-sustaining careers. The organization was designed to change thousands of individual lives and transform the region by preparing the local future workforce and contributing to the regional economy. The KC Scholars Scholarship Program awards traditional college scholarships to high school juniors, adult learner scholarships to adults 18 years and older, and college savings match awards to high school freshmen. The Great Jobs KC program provides tuition assistance to approved career training programs in high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, logistics/warehousing, manufacturing and service careers. With the support of Great Jobs KC, adults 17+ and older can learn the skills needed in one year or less to secure a job with family-sustaining wages. Great Jobs KC supports all its Scholars throughout their college or job training and into their first year of employment.


About The Role

Reports to: Sr. Director of IT

Location: Kansas City, MO

Hybrid (technology provided)

Status: Exempt, Full-time

Salary: Annual salary based on experience

Key Performance Indicators:

  • 85% (or more) of Salesforce users report that their experience is good or excellent.
  • Activate 80% of Salesforce capacity to effectively support the automation of processes.
  • Responsible for executing organizations’ IT CRM system integrations, enhancements, and reporting needs.
  • Contribute towards IT’s goal of completing 90% of IT project work on time and within budget.


  • Deliver Reliable Solutions & Technology (60%):
  • Customize and configure Salesforce to meet the specific needs of the organization.
  • Create and manage custom objects, fields, record types, and page layouts.
  • Develop and maintain automation processes using Salesforce Flow.
  • Create and maintain Salesforce architecture and design documentation that encompasses both technical and functional aspects of the Salesforce solution.
  • Utilize your deep technical skills to customize Salesforce, including creating and maintaining custom objects, triggers and other automations, Apex classes, Lightning components, and more.
  • Design and manage integrations with other systems and applications, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation.
  • Managing multiple user management setups, profiles, and roles, customization of objects, fields, record types, page layouts, and workflow rules.
  • Implement data models, data governance policies, and data migration strategies to maintain data accuracy and integrity within Salesforce.
  • Ensure robust security measures, including data access controls, to protect sensitive information and comply with industry best practices.
  • Establish and enforce Salesforce best practices, security standards, and data governance policies.
  • Provide timely and accurate project documentation and reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, progress, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors, when necessary, to support the Salesforce platform.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation (20%):
  • Continuously evaluate CRM integrations, processes, and practices, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing enhancements to optimize organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Salesforce solutions, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with end-users across different teams in the organization to identify potential areas of improvement in existing workflows and recommend those to IT Management.
  • Work with the Project Manager to identify and implement changes in team processes for quicker and efficient resolution of the prioritized tasks.
  • Identify relevant training and certification to aid efficient Salesforce configurations.
  • Help facilitate training and support for users on Salesforce platform and automation processes.

People Management & Financial Acumen (20%):

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Salesforce developers and administrators, fostering collaboration and skill development.
  • Influence, promote, drive quality improvement, service enhancements, cost reductions, and productivity increases for the team and business systems.
  • Successfully manage through ambiguity and change leadership while leading the organization through transformational change.
  • Solid understanding of financial control and budget management
  • Strong business insight and ability to collaborate with non-technical counterparts.
  • Uses cost-benefit thinking to help set priorities.
  • Fosters an environment that encourages fiscal responsibility.

Education & Experience

Education & Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar)
  • Salesforce certifications, particularly architect-related certifications
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce.com products and technologies
  • Experience in Salesforce development tools, including Apex, Lightning components, and APIs.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in Salesforce customization, administration, and development, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex Salesforce solutions.
  • Previous experience in a Salesforce Architect role is highly desired, demonstrating the ability to bridge the gap between the business and architectural aspects of the platform.
