The Cargo Operations Analyst is the overnight cargo shift leader and one of two key cargo staff who run Kamaka Air’s entire ground operation — the tactical counterpart to the Senior Operations Manager, with intentional overlap in flight organization, loadout, and release that provides coverage today and a development path to the next level. Working the 12:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. window, the Analyst turns the night’s bookings in Takeflite (soon North Vector) into organized, loaded, documented flights released to pilots by sunrise, leading the overnight cargo team while working the floor with them — then hands a briefed, running operation to the Senior Operations Manager each morning

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Shift Leadership: Lead the overnight shift as the senior on-site decision-maker: direct cargo agents and handlers, set priorities, and escalate per on-call procedures.

• Flight Organization: Build the morning flight lineup from bookings in Takeflite / North Vector; sequence flights by cutoffs, priority freight (UPS/USPS, key accounts), and aircraft assignment.

• Loadout: Plan loadouts by aircraft and island lane; supervise build-up and loading; verify piece counts, weights, and weight-and-balance inputs.

• Flight Release: Prepare and verify manifests, hazmat paperwork, and NOTOC; release flights to pilots in coordination with JetInsight and dispatch; reconcile actual loads to bookings before release.

• Cargo Handling: Perform the full range of cargo agent duties — acceptance, documentation, hazmat screening, sortation, staging, canister processing — and operate GSE (forklift, tugs) safely.

• Systems & Reporting: Keep Takeflite / North Vector and JetInsight accurate throughout the shift; support the North Vector migration (parallel entry, data validation); produce daily shift reports in Excel.

• Safety & Compliance: Enforce FAA Part 135 ground procedures, TSA cargo security, OSHA, and hazmat (49 CFR) rules; run shift safety briefings; report incidents immediately.

• Development: Serve as the Senior Operations Manager’s designated backup; progressively take on KPI reporting, station coordination, and process improvement as proficiency grows. This role is the feeder 

position for future ground operations leadership.


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Fixed overnight shift (no rotation), 12:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Mon–Fri, occasional Saturdays; hangar, warehouse, and ramp environments with weather exposure, aircraft noise, and moving equipment.

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, sustain physical cargo work on foot overnight, and work at a computer; must obtain airport security badging (SIDA), hold a valid driver’s license, and obtain forklift certification.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: 2+ years in air cargo, airline ground handling, warehouse/logistics, or military logistics operations; shift lead experience a plus.

• Required: Basic Microsoft Office proficiency with working Excel skills (data entry, sorting, simple formulas, shift reports); strong attention to detail with weights, counts, and documentation; clear communication for handoffs and pilot coordination; reliable overnight availability.

• Preferred: Aviation operations systems experience (Takeflite, JetInsight, or similar); hazmat/dangerous goods training; forklift or GSE certification; load planning or weight-and-balance exposure; military logistics background welcomed; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$45,000 – $70,000 per year plus benefits (group health, paid time off, holidays), based on experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
