The Teacher for Journey of the Heart is responsible for planning and implementing age- appropriate educational programs and activities for children. This role involves creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment, fostering social-emotional development, and facilitating the cognitive growth of children through engaging and interactive teaching methods.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Curriculum Development:
• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and
activities based on curriculum guidelines and children's interests and
needs.
• Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, materials, and resources to
promote active learning and engagement.
• Adapt curriculum and instructional methods to meet the diverse learning
styles and abilities of children.
2. Classroom Management:
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes
respect, cooperation, and positive behavior.
• Establish and enforce clear expectations and routines for children's
behavior and participation.
• Manage classroom transitions, activities, and materials effectively to
maximize learning opportunities.
3. Assessment and Evaluation:
• Assess children's progress and development through ongoing observation,
documentation, and evaluation.
• Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and individualize
learning experiences for children.
• Communicate children's progress and development to parents and
caregivers through regular updates and conferences.
4. Parent and Community Engagement:
• Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support children's learning and
development at home and in the community.
• Provide opportunities for family involvement in the classroom and school
activities.
• Maintain open and ongoing communication with parents and caregivers
to address questions, concerns, and feedback.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or related
field required; master's degree preferred.
• Valid teaching license or certification required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching young children in a classroom
setting.
• Strong understanding of child development principles, curriculum planning, and
instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all
children.
