Description

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Safe Transportation:

• Operate a school bus or other designated vehicle in a safe and responsible

manner, following all traffic laws and regulations.

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure

mechanical safety and cleanliness.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers at all times, including

proper use of seat belts and adherence to safety procedures.


2. Route Planning and Scheduling:

• Plan efficient routes for picking up and dropping off children, considering

traffic patterns, weather conditions, and time constraints.

• Adhere to assigned schedules and timelines to ensure timely arrival and

departure at designated locations.

• Communicate any delays, detours, or schedule changes to appropriate

staff and parents in a timely manner.

3. Communication and Customer Service:

• Maintain positive and professional interactions with children, parents, and

staff during transportation activities.

• Provide assistance and support to children as needed, including boarding

and disembarking from the vehicle.

• Address parent concerns, inquiries, and feedback regarding transportation

services in a courteous and respectful manner.


4. Vehicle Maintenance and Compliance:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on the vehicle, such as fueling,

checking fluid levels, and cleaning interior and exterior surfaces.

• Report any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns with the vehicle

to appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.

• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing school

bus operations, including licensing, inspections, and recordkeeping.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for

operating a school bus.

• Clean driving record with no history of accidents or moving violations.

• Completion of a certified school bus driver training program preferred.

• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact

positively with children, parents, and staff.

• Commitment to safety and the well-being of passengers.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
