The Assistant Childcare Director for Journey of the Heart supports the Childcare Director in overseeing the daily operations of the childcare program. This role involves assisting with program management, staff supervision, curriculum development, and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and organizational policies.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Program Management Support:
• Assist the Childcare Director in planning, implementing, and evaluating
age-appropriate curriculum and activities for children.
• Collaborate with the Childcare Director in managing program budgets,
resources, and supplies to ensure efficient operations.
• Help maintain accurate records and documentation related to program
activities, enrollment, and licensing requirements.
2. Staff Supervision and Development:
• Support the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of childcare staff,
including teachers, aides, and support personnel.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities
for staff to enhance their skills and performance.
• Assist with conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to
staff to ensure high-quality care and education for children.
3. Curriculum Development and Implementation:
• Assist in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate
lesson plans and activities based on curriculum guidelines and children's
interests and needs.
• Support teachers in incorporating a variety of teaching strategies,
materials, and resources to promote active learning and engagement.
• Collaborate with the Childcare Director and staff to assess children's
progress and development and adjust curriculum as needed.
4. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
• Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards,
and organizational policies and procedures.
• Assist with conducting regular inspections and audits of program facilities,
equipment, and documentation to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies, monitors, and auditors to address
compliance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or related
field required; master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in childcare or early childhood education,
with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong understanding of child development principles, curriculum planning, and
best practices in early childhood education.
• Knowledge of licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and
accreditation requirements for childcare programs.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the childcare setting.
