Backstage Team (Backstage Manager and Awards Coordinator)
About The Role:
The Backstage Team is comprised of two interchangeable roles: Backstage Manager and Awards Coordinator. Both members of this team will work together to create a seamless transition from one role's duties to the other. Each member will have designated times to switch responsibilities throughout the event. This team of two is also known as the “Dynamic Duo”, as success will happen when both members work in unison to create the Journey Magic!
Dance Industry/Event experience is a plus. If you are ready to learn, we are willing to train.
Work Details:
- Seasonal Dance Competition 2024 Tour, March-May
- Must be willing to travel by road or air
- Must be 18 or older
- Must be a NJ/NY/PA resident to apply
- Must be available from Friday AM to Sunday PM for travel. Long-distance events may require Thursday PM to Monday AM travel
- Travel from a specified meeting point or airport will be required
- Minimum commitment 6 of 11 events
- Paid training, travel, double occupancy lodging, and event meals
- Official government ID required
- Background check required
What Winning Looks Like:
Backstage Manager -
- Responsible for load in and load out of production equipment, as well as set-up, organization, and breakdown of your respective station
- Become familiar with and greet all dancers, studio directors, and choreographers entering the backstage area
- Responsible for creating a smooth flow of traffic and keeping track of the performance order
- Get routines on stage at the appropriate time to ensure that the event runs on schedule
- Communicates with the Audio Operator to inform them of performance order
- Works with the Awards Coordinator to prepare the stage before each awards ceremony and clears stage in preparation for the following session
- During awards ceremonies, works with the Awards Coordinator to welcome and guide the dancers onto the stage safely, participate in the giveaway tosses, and present the awards on stage as they are announced
- Are capable of lifting 30 lbs. without assistance
- Attend to all other duties assigned by the Show Director(s) as needed
Awards Coordinator -
- Responsible for load in and load out of production equipment, as well as the set-up, organization, and breakdown of your respective station
- Ensures that all awards are properly labeled and organized
- Ensures that the awards table is kept organized and presentable
- Interacts with the Tabulator to obtain all results
- Works with the Backstage Manager to prepare the stage before each awards ceremony and clears stage in preparation for the following session
- During awards ceremonies, works with Backstage Manager to welcome and guide the dancers onto the stage safely, participate in the giveaway tosses, and present the awards on stage as they are announced
- Are capable of lifting 30 lbs. without assistance
- Attend to all other duties assigned by the Show Director(s) as needed
