We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative Manager of Human Resources and Business Administration to align HR and operational infrastructure goals with the business strategies of a rapidly growing scale-up organization. In this hybrid-schedule role reporting to the Vice President of Operations, he/she/they will partner with leadership and external vendor resourcing to develop and implement sustainable process frameworks in support of the company’s cross-functional G & A needs with an initial concentration on people and culture. The successful candidate will be a true “Manager of the Miscellaneous” who thrives in collaborative interactions guided by a high EQ (emotional intelligence), has a continuous learning mindset, and personifies a passion for solving complex people and organizational process challenges.

Description

The Responsibilities:


HUMAN RESOURCES

Identify and implement best practices across all general areas of HR associated with the employee life-cycle, including:

  • Partner with the VP of Operations to champion, operationalize and sustain an inclusive work environment
  • Manage recruitment efforts (and/or liaise with outside recruitment firms).
  • Streamline onboarding processes to ensure an exemplary new hire experience. 
  • In partnership with external Human Resources consultant, support the design and execution of new policies, and communicate company-wide changes in policy, practice, and resources
  • Manage annual HR cycle deliverables related to benefits enrollment, performance management and merit and bonus awards 
  • Assist with team building initiatives to support a culture and work environment that encourages employee engagement 
  • Support the development and deployment of a workplace recognition strategy that empowers staff to live out the organization's values and execute on its mission and vision


BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Identify and implement best practices across broader G & A units of the company ensure continuous organizational improvement through:

  • Monitoring and tracking of office management needs including supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous day-to-day troubleshooting requests.
  • Coordination (and when needed, creation of) internal communications for the roll-out of new policies and culture-building initiatives.
  • Partner with VP of Operations on external branding communication efforts including website support, PR and social media efforts.
  • Oversight and tracking of IT and security needs for our growing workforce
  • Organization and quality control of data collaboration platforms (i.e. Sharepoint/Sharevault folders, contracts documentation filing, etc.)
  • Partnering with VP of Operations on lab management and building facilities support (i.e. EH&S, Safety & International Building Code (IBC))


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience (Start-up and scale-up biotech experience preferred).
  • Broad business experience driving execution and adoption of key scale-up programs across varied organizational departments/teams.
  • Previous experience in a human resources environment or project ownership of early stage HR infrastructure build-outs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills guided by a passion for collaboration, continuous learning and mutual mentorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, complex tasks and to meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with expertise in the Microsoft office suite, with particular fluency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook calendar, and SharePoint.
  • Experienced and comfortable interacting at all levels including Board members and senior management.
  • Possess a high degree of poise, judgment, discretion, empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal direction and be able to exercise judgment, creativity, and analytical thinking.
