Description

Food Preparation

  • Wash, chop, and prepare vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients according to recipes and kitchen guidelines
  • Measure, portion, and label ingredients for use during service
  • Prepare basic menu items such as sauces, dressings, and marinades as directed by the Chef or Kitchen Manager
  • Follow standardized recipes and maintain consistency in preparation

Kitchen Support

  • Assist line cooks by supplying prepared ingredients and completing tasks needed for smooth service
  • Set up and stock stations with necessary items before service
  • Break down stations and clean work areas after service

Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow all food handling, storage, and sanitation guidelines
  • Keep prep areas, equipment, cutting boards, and tools clean and organized
  • Properly store all food items using correct labeling and dating practices
  • Monitor and maintain safe temperatures for food storage

Equipment Use & Maintenance

  • Safely operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, and knives
  • Report any equipment problems or safety concerns to management
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment following proper cleaning procedures

Inventory & Organization

  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
  • Rotate stock following FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
  • Notify management of low‑stock items or product shortages

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient workflow
  • Communicate needs, issues, or concerns promptly to leads or management
  • Support overall kitchen operations and help wherever needed during busy periods

Qualifications

  • Previous prep cook or kitchen experience preferred but not always required
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and knife skills
  • Ability to follow directions, recipes, and safety procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain one

Salary

$17 - $19 per hour
