ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Know James Coffee's core values
  • Keep employee morale high and focused on success
  • Be a regular on-site presence during peak periods to ensure service standards are met
  • Identify issues as they arise, assess their impact, and use good judgement to resolve them swiftly and effectively; remain resilient and proactive to find solutions that work
  • Manage and conduct hiring, training, discipline, and firing
  • Conduct staff onboarding
  • Receive and respond to manager feedback constructively, making needed changes swiftly
  • Plan and conduct leadership and staff meetings
  • Write staff schedules that meet labor budget, service standards, and operational effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate store pars - glass serveware, merchandise, coffee (bulk and retail), syrups, cold brews, miscellaneous shop supplies.
  • Ensure the café presents a welcoming, positive, and family-friendly atmosphere
  • Ensure staff comply with company safety policies, procedures, practices
  • Identify workplace issues as they arise, evaluate their impact, and use good judgement to address and resolve them swiftly; always report to and consult with leadership
  • Know and follow administrative processes; submit required documents and reports accurately and on time
  • Continuously monitor product quality and give appropriate feedback to staff—always follow through to ensure needed changes have been made
  • Respond to customer complaints in a manner that instills trust and builds loyalty

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize workflow throughout area
  • Ability to remain composed and effective, especially during times of crisis or difficulty
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, customer service oriented, with good attention to detail
  • Management experience in high volume food and beverage is strongly preferred 
  • One year minimum cafe experienced required, preferably in specialty coffee

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to maneuver effectively around the café
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for 6+ hours
