In 1988, the James A. Michener Art Museum opened as an independent, non-profit cultural institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the art and cultural heritage of the Bucks County region. The museum is named for Doylestown’s most famous son, the Pulitzer-Prize winning writer who first dreamed of a regional art museum in the early 1960s. The museum has evolved from a modest facility with a locally derived mission to an accredited world-class facility with a broad vision. A world-class collection of Pennsylvania Impressionist paintings and special exhibitions showcasing a wide range of historical and contemporary work attracting visitors from around the world.


JOB DESCRIPTION

The James A. Michener Art Museum is looking for an experienced HR Administrator / Office Manager to report to the Director of Finance. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.


Handle HR paperwork and policies

  • Support all questions or requests related to internal and external HR resources
  • Maintain paper and electronic records of employee data
  • Annually, help put together benefit packages and be hands-on during open enrollment
  • Keep HR policies up to date (Employee Handbook), managing compliance and legal consulting
  • Keep track of healthcare (medical, dental, disability); ensure bills are correct and submit for payment

Manage recruiting, on-boarding, and off-boarding of staff

  • Perform the recruitment process by job posting, identifying candidates, conducting reference checks, and issuing employment contracts
  • Perform employee onboarding and orientation including I-9 verification, coordinating first-day preparation, training schedules, system access, policy review, and integration into the team; create new employee records
  • Perform employee off-boarding and maintain documentation, utilizing legal counsel when necessary

Manage HR functions related to workplace/performance/employee satisfaction

  • Manage the employee performance review process and maintain records
  • Field employee grievances and facilitate conflict resolution
  • Be the POC for all HR questions
  • File Workers Compensation claims
  • Help employees with the disability process when needed
  • Maintain solid understanding of HR regulations, latest HR trends, and best practices

Manage Bookkeeping functions

  • Perform basic bookkeeping duties including accounts payable processing and expense reconciliations
  • Process biweekly payroll and corresponding 403(b) contribution and journal entries
  • Record daily deposits and communicate with various departments regarding receipt
  • Assistance with annual 1099 processing
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Experience with Sage a plus

Office Management

  • Work with external IT team for training, reconciliation of equipment, troubleshooting, and onboarding/offboarding tasks
  • Order and manage office equipment and supplies
  • Scheduling assistance and special projects as needed

Salary

$32 - $35 per hour
