Seeking paralegal with family law experience to draft divorce pleadings, compile financial documents, and perform other legal assistant tasks.


Compensation: $15.00 to $16.00/hour based on experience

Employment type: part-time work at the office in St. Louis (Clayton), Missouri. This is a permanent part-time position. Please do not apply if you are only looking for temporary work.

Days/Hours: 12-15 hours per week flexible schedule agreed upon with attorney prior to hiring. Shifts will occur sometime during the hours of Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

I am a solo divorce lawyer and mediator located in St. Louis, Missouri seeking a paralegal / legal assistant. Most clients desire negotiated outcomes and are settlement focused, which aligns with my values of wanting to advise and support families through a difficult life transition. Some clients require litigation services.

I need a self-starter who knows how to problem solve and is task-oriented to work independently at times and also as a team with the attorney. You must have strong legal writing skills and experience in drafting divorce pleadings to be considered for this position.

The right candidate will be a team-player, have a high level of attention to detail, organized, strong oral and written communication skills, strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and internet skills) and the ability to multi-task. You must also desire to assist families with compassion and care through divorce.

Duties Include

  • set up new client files electronically
  • gather and review financial documents from clients
  • draft petitions, settlement agreements, parenting plans and other legal documents using attorney's templates (attorney will train you the first few weeks)
  • manage and organize client electronic files
  • organize and summarize large amounts of client's financial data on Excel spreadsheets
  • participate in weekly case status meeting
  • communicate with clients via email and telephone
  • and other assistant duties as assigned.


Candidate must -

  • be organized, personable and professional. You are expected to sound polite, helpful, and confident in your interactions over email with clients.
  • be a problem solver and have the ability to pick up skills quickly.
  • be a reliable individual who is able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • demonstrate competency in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel, and use of the internet.
  • demonstrate typing and keyboarding skills at a proficient level.
  • have a high level of attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • have prior experience drafting divorce pleadings.
  • have reliable transportation to/from the office in Clayton, MO.
  • Experience with the following software is a bonus, but not required: Clio, Zoom
