Position Overview
My Academy is seeking a passionate, energetic, and versatile Science Teacher capable of inspiring students across middle and/or high school grade levels. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of scientific principles, a knack for hands-on, inquiry-based learning, and the ability to manage a safe, engaging laboratory environment.
Depending on scheduling and expertise, this role may include teaching general Middle School Science, as well as specialized High School courses (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Science).
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and spark a genuine interest in STEM fields.
- Lab Management: Facilitate safe, hands-on laboratory experiments and activities within the My Academy lab spaces, ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Differentiated Learning: Adapt teaching methods to support both struggling students and those needing advanced enrichment.
- Assessment & Feedback: Implement a mix of formative and summative assessments to measure student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Classroom Culture: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that reflects My Academy's values of student voice, collaboration, and mutual respect.
- Collaboration: Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and departmental planning to continuously improve our curriculum.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science), or a related STEM field is required.
- Certification: Valid state teaching credential/license in secondary science education (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Experience: Previous classroom teaching experience at the middle or high school level is preferred, but passionate new educators are welcome to apply!
- Skills:
- Strong classroom management and organization skills.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into lessons (e.g., smartboards, LMS platforms, virtual labs).
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with parents, colleagues, and administration.
