Description

Summary: Seeking a creative and experienced Senior Network Engineer to work in an exciting, fast-paced environment, supporting the hardware layer of a network management platform. This position will provide network configuration support to our client sites and perform maintenance tasks, including network automation performance improvements. This individual will work closely with firewalls, network switches, access points, and other infrastructure devices. This position works with other engineers and leadership to provide an exceptional customer experience, efficiently responding, and resolving escalated network events. This individual must have hands-on experience and be ready to contribute from day one. This individual will report directly to the Network Operations Manager.


This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This position will work from HQ at 2145 N Center St, North Charleston, SC 29406 with opportunities for hybrid work after onboarding. This individual is part of an on-call rotation which may include occasional evening and weekend work.


Key duties:

  • Own all network automation escalations for protocols such as CoA, Radius, and SNMP.
  • Own all wireless escalations, configuring wireless coverage based on industry best practices.
  • Own all network topology escalations, including validating firewall policies, VLAN structures, and port configurations.
  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Perform regular network maintenance tasks including firmware upgrades and patch management.
  • Respond to network incidents and outages promptly, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Research industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network engineering.
  • Collaborate with software engineering team on our custom network automation software, assisting with infrastructure hardware compatibility and configurations


Key Qualifications:

  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, AAA, Radius, CoA, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of WLAN principles and industry-standard RF configurations
  • Experience with network hardware and software including Cisco, Juniper, Meraki, Watchguard etc.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Prior experience in a weekend work environment is preferred.
  • Industry certifications a plus, including CCNA, CCNP, CMNA, CompTIA Network+, etc.
