Job Summary

Island Spa & Sauna is seeking a reliable and skilled General Handyman to join our team. As a General Handyman, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall upkeep and functionality of our spa facilities overnight. Your duties will include performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our premises, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and general facility repairs during non-operating hours.

General Accountabilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing leaks, replacing light fixtures, and fixing broken appliances.
  • Complete carpentry work such as building shelves, repairing furniture, and installing doors.
  • Paint and touch up interior and exterior surfaces as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify any maintenance issues and address them promptly.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from staff and management in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Experience: At least 3 years of supervisory or management role in the hospitality or wellness industry, with a focus on customer service.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects (>50 lbs), carrying equipment, and operating power tools for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use various hand and power tools to complete repair and maintenance tasks with precision and efficiency.
  • Must be able to move around the spa facilities and access different areas, including confined spaces and elevated surfaces, as required for maintenance work.
  • Must be able to physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to access equipment and perform repairs in tight or awkward spaces
  • Knowledge and adherence to proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries when handling heavy equipment or objects.
  • Willingness to wear appropriate PPE, including safety goggles, gloves, steel-toed boots, and protective clothing, to ensure personal safety while performing tasks.
