Description

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced, hands-on Revenue Cycle Manager to oversee and improve our medical billing, coding, reimbursement, and collections performance.

We currently partner with athenahealth for billing and coding services. In this role, you'll oversee our outsourced revenue cycle operations, identify and resolve billing issues, improve reimbursement, and ensure claims are accurately processed and appropriately followed through to resolution.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll work closely with executive leadership, providers, and administrative staff to strengthen revenue cycle performance, improve workflows, and help develop our future internal revenue cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue Cycle Oversight: Monitor billing operations, claims processing, accounts receivable, collections, reimbursement accuracy, and the performance of our outsourced billing partner.
  • Denials & Appeals: Investigate denied, rejected, underpaid, and outstanding claims; coordinate appeals and corrective actions; and ensure timely resolution.
  • Coding & Documentation: Audit coding accuracy, identify documentation deficiencies, and collaborate with providers to improve compliance and charge capture.
  • Revenue Optimization: Identify missed charges, preventable write-offs, reimbursement discrepancies, and opportunities to improve collections.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Develop dashboards, track revenue cycle KPIs, analyze performance trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Process Improvement: Develop efficient workflows, strengthen internal controls, and implement improvements that reduce errors and prevent recurring denials.
  • Collaboration & Education: Work with providers and administrative teams to improve documentation, resolve billing concerns, and support a better patient experience.
  • Department Development: Help build and expand our internal revenue cycle capabilities, including workflow development, technology implementation, staff training, and future team leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing, coding, revenue cycle management, or related healthcare operations.
  • Strong knowledge of outpatient fee-for-service billing, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, medical necessity, and insurance reimbursement.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with claim denials, appeals, accounts receivable, and revenue recovery.
  • Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.
  • Demonstrated experience leading revenue cycle improvement initiatives, coordinating cross-functional projects, or developing operational workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and revenue cycle reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage issues through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPC, CPB, CCS, CRC, or comparable professional certification.
  • Experience with athenaOne or athenahealth Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Experience overseeing outsourced billing services.
  • Background in primary care or outpatient medical practices.
  • Experience developing or expanding internal revenue cycle operations, including workflows, systems, reporting, and staff training.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring billing and coding staff.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who takes ownership, pays attention to the details, and follows through. You'll be comfortable investigating complex claims, identifying recurring problems, analyzing financial performance, and implementing practical solutions. You can work independently while collaborating effectively with providers, administrative staff, external partners, and leadership—and you understand that strong revenue cycle operations support both financial performance and a better patient experience.

Why Join Invested Health Center?

You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing healthcare organization where your expertise, ideas, and contributions matter. You'll work directly with leadership, help shape our revenue cycle operations, and play an important role in supporting our continued expansion.
