Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers while helping deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Working closely with providers, nurses, and administrative staff, you’ll play an important role in supporting comprehensive primary care, HIV medicine, sexual health, preventive care, chronic disease management, and specialty outpatient procedures.
This position is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys working at the top of their scope, values teamwork, and wants to continue growing professionally.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Support
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication reconciliation.
- Perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
- Administer medications and immunizations.
- Perform EKGs and other diagnostic testing.
- Assist providers with office procedures.
- Assist with High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA), anal manometry, and specialty procedures following training.
- Prepare and administer long-acting injectable medications.
- Provide patient education under provider direction.
Administrative Support
- Document accurately within Athena EHR.
- Prepare patient charts.
- Assist with prescription refill requests.
- Support referrals and prior authorizations.
- Coordinate follow-up care.
- Maintain exam rooms and clinical supplies.
Patient Experience
- Create a welcoming, compassionate environment for every patient.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with providers and coworkers to deliver outstanding care.
- Support efficient clinic flow throughout the day.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current national Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, or equivalent).
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an outpatient primary care or family medicine practice.
- Experience performing venipuncture.
- Experience administering injections and immunizations.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Athena EHR.
- Experience in HIV medicine, infectious disease, sexual health, or community health.
- Experience performing CLIA-waived laboratory testing.
- Experience assisting with office procedures.
- Portuguese language proficiency.
