The Business Development Specialists position is under the direct supervision and guidance of the AIF Program Director (PD). The Business Development Specialists position will assist in ensuring the AIF program complies with all federal regulatory requirements. The successful applicant is expected to know and work in all facets of the Intertribal Agriculture Council while having detailed knowledge about the AIF Program.

SUMMARY

The IAC conducts a wide range of programs designed to further the goal of improving Indian agriculture and food systems. Since 1998, the IAC American Indian Foods (AIF) Program has provided a viable alternative for Indian producers to market their products overseas through collaboration with the USDA Foreign Ag Service and other federal agencies. The partnership was developed as a platform for American Indian food businesses to showcase their products and share tribal cultures with the world.


The Business Development Specialists position is under the direct supervision and guidance of the AIF Program Director (PD). The Business Development Specialists position will assist in ensuring the AIF program complies with all federal regulatory requirements. The successful applicant is expected to know and work in all facets of the Intertribal Agriculture Council while having detailed knowledge about the AIF Program.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all job responsibilities in a manner that meets or exceeds the standards established by the Intertribal Agriculture Council
  • In this position you will perform a wide variety of technical support duties that increases company productivity and success. 
  • Tracking company inquiries, participation, and evaluations in our database. Information will be used to design program offerings and services for stakeholders
  • Recruiting companies to increase the total population of companies that IAC is able to reach.
  • Undertaking special research and other projects & tasks as directed by the IAC
  • Inform federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, and their respective members of potential market opportunities. 
  • Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Function regularly with a team of professionals, including other partner organizations, to develop and implement mutual market access goals for Native Americans
  • Assist IAC with monitoring the use of the Made/Produced by American Indian trademark.
  • Diligent budget management, including preparing and maintaining all necessary financial documentation and reports required for proper management and compliance, including, but not limited to: Participant Contribution Forms, Evaluation Forms, Travel Expense Reports, and Compiling Participant Sales numbers. 
  • Plan and assist in event/meeting hosting and logistics
  • Focuses on industry outreach to applicable associations, institutions, and businesses to inform them about Native American agriculture
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders from industry
  • Help develop and maintain resources and technical assistance (TA) tools to support client efforts and initiatives


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel may be required. 


Salary

$60,000 - $70,000 per year
